Cinema & Events Manager

Nothing beats the energy and excitement of a great live experience! That’s why our mission is to bring the very best in live entertainment to the largest possible number of people.

The Ambassador Theatre Group is an extraordinary success story in the live entertainment industry. Founded in 1992 in the UK, we’ve grown into the world’s number one live-theatre company today. We cover every discipline in the theatre industry, from operating venues to ticketing platforms and producing shows. We are passionate about great shows and our ambition is to help them find the largest possible audiences.

ATG’s theatres and cinema complex in Woking, comprises the New Victoria Theatre, Rhoda McGaw Studio Theatre, and the 7-screen Nova Cinema. This is an exciting time to be joining the complex, with the Nova having recently relaunched following a multi-million-pound refurbishment, making it one of the most state-of-the-art cinemas in the country. The 1,300 seat main house hosts a mixed programme of musicals, drama, comedy and children’s shows, whilst the Rhoda McGaw occupies an important place in the community, providing a platform for a mix of semi-professional and professional content, alongside school and community groups.

We’re looking for a dynamic, innovative and inspirational team leader as our Cinema & Events Manager, who has experience of working in a commercial environment and a desire to exceed targets while providing exemplary customer service to all our visitors whilst developing and growing our new events business.

Events will be corporate hospitality, local hires of our cinema or theatre facilities, and in-house events to support the cinema and Nova membership programmes.

This is a revenue and customer experience focussed hospitality role which requires the positive motivational approach of a retail and hospitality professional. A key operational player in the development of our growth plan as we expand the activities and initiatives we deliver for our audiences.

Leading the Customer Experience team, you will maximise revenue, use data to inform and deliver future retail focussed plans, whilst at all times motivating team members to meet and exceed sales targets.

The role is responsible for not just the welcome of our cinema audiences and corporate/private clients, but also contributes to ensuring that we care for the casts and visiting companies that are arriving backstage, in conjunction with our Customer Experience Manager (Theatres).

Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues in the ATG Head Office, particularly Food & Beverage and Risk teams. You will take an active interest in your team’s talent and development as well as your own. You will work closely with venue colleagues across all departments to drive the vision of the venue forward, actively considering how your expertise and team can support the growth of the business. This post will comprise a mix of day, evening and weekend work and is based at The Ambassadors in Woking.

Primarily you are a strong retail focused professional, with strong people and organizational skills able to work in an agile and target driven environment. We are looking for passionate individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to juggle various tasks at once.
