Theatre Manager - York
The Ambassador Theatre Group is an extraordinary success story in the live entertainment industry. Founded in 1992 in the UK, we’ve grown into the world’s number one live-theatre company today. We cover every discipline in the theatre industry, from operating venues to producing shows and ticketing, through our industry-leading sites ATGtickets.com, LOVEtheatre and Group Line. We are passionate about great shows and our ambition is to help them find the largest possible audiences.
The Grand Opera House is the largest theatre in York at just under 1,000 seats. The Theatre was re-launched in October 2022 following significant investment in its bars, dressing rooms and seating. We host a varied programme from west-end touring musicals and plays to popular comedians and one night music gigs. We pride ourselves on delivering a gold-standard welcome to everyone that comes through our doors, whether that be audiences, communities taking part in our Creative Learning work or Visiting Companies.
Owing to internal progression we are excited to be recruiting a Theatre Manager for a fixed term contract of one year to join the wonderful team at our Grand Opera House in York!
This is the perfect time to join The Grand Opera House. Following a major re-launch the Theatre is on track to have one of its best years and we’re looking for the perfect person to join us at this pivotal time as we continue to explore new ways of bringing fantastic experiences to our local community. The role is based at the Grand Opera House in the centre of the historic city of York. Situated just up from the beautiful riverside, there are many bars, restaurants and leisure activities within stone’s throw of the Theatre providing plenty to see and do all year round.
Part of the venue’s Senior Management Team, this role reports directly to the Theatre Director. You will work closely with the venue Heads of Department including Marketing, Ticketing, Customer Experience and Technical to deliver the Theatre’s Business Plan and associated targets and objectives. The Theatre Manager will be responsible for the Customer Experience Team and achieving our ambitious commercial targets. You will be at your best when exceeding targets while providing a fantastic customer experience.
