Customer Service Host

Do you have a passion for theatre and looking for the perfect opportunity to compliment your work-life balance? We are looking for customer-focused staff to cover shifts around 12pm-3pm and 5pm-8pm, working up to 10 hours per week at our Box Office.

If this would work well for your lifestyle, then we would welcome you to apply for this position.

The Sunderland Empire is the largest theatre between Leeds and Edinburgh and referred to as the West End of the Northeast; we are a dynamic, busy venue welcoming thousands of audience members through our door each year housing a mix of hit West End musicals, UK tours, comedians, one-night shows and local performances. We are part of the Ambassador Theatre Group, an extraordinary success story in the live entertainment industry. Founded in 1992 in the UK, we have grown into the world’s number one live-theatre company today. We cover every discipline in the theatre industry, from operating venues to ticketing platforms and producing shows. We are passionate about great shows and our ambition is to help them find the largest possible audiences.

As a Customer Service Host, you will help us achieve this by offering customer support from our Box Office up to 90 minutes before each show begins. You will answer queries about various productions, the theatre, local vicinity, resolve ticket inquiries, as well as sales of the additional products and services that enhance our audiences' visit to the theatre.

Full of variety, this role is both fun and challenging. You will take responsibility for a range of tasks as part of a friendly, passionate and ambitious team, in our unique theatre with an ever-changing programme. There are also great opportunities for development within the role, as well as cross department working being an option too. Along with being voted ‘A great place to work’ and an accreditation for better health at work, we offer a free ATG+ Membership  giving discounts on tickets too.

Interviews will be held on 6th and 7th of February 2024 with a view to start w/c  15th February.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and strive to provide a stage for everyone. Onstage and off, we hold ourselves accountable for nurturing an inclusive culture. Find out more about us and our values at atg.co.uk and careers.atg.co.uk

We are a Disability Confident Committed Employer, which means that we are taking action to ensure that people with disabilities and long-term health conditions feel supported, engaged, and able to fulfil their potential in the workplace. We will offer an interview or recruitment event to disabled candidates who tell us they wish to participate in the scheme and who demonstrate in their application that they best meet the essential criteria for the role. Where we receive more applications than we are reasonably able to interview for any given role, we will retain applications for the next available interview opportunity wherever possible.

If you would like to discuss accessibility prior to applying, please review our job description where you can find our contact details to request a confidential discussion.
