Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for a full-time, experienced Resident Director to work on the London production of MEAN GIRLS.

Book by Tina Fey, music by Jeff Richmond, lyrics by Nell Benjamin and Directed and Choreographed by Casey Nicholaw - this musical will arrive in the West End in June 2024.

Your duties and responsibilities will be those normally expected of a Resident Director on a first-class West End production.

The Resident Director will work with the Director and Associate Director in delivering the creative vision of the production, as well as providing research and administrative support. You will support the Associate Director in leading understudy rehearsals and cover runs. You will provide a strong support to the directing team, liaising between many different departments, so it is important you have good communication skills.

The Resident Director will be present throughout the entire rehearsals process from the start of rehearsals to the opening night. You will then continue with the production to regularly note the show each week, run understudy rehearsals with the Associate Director and be present at key moments during the running of the production (for example, recasts).

We are committed to a workplace that embraces diversity and inclusion. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from those currently underrepresented in our workforce.

  • Start Date: WC 22nd April 2024, or thereabouts
  • Please Note: All applicants must be able to commit to the full contract and must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Job Location: West End London
  • Weekly Hours: 6 day working weeks; 8 shows per week plus rehearsals and understudy calls.
  • Application Deadline: Friday 9th February 2024, midday
  • 1st round interviews: WC 12th February 2024
