Wigs, Hair and Make Up Show Person - Mean Girls

Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for a Wigs, Hair and Make Up Show Person to work on the London production of MEAN GIRLS. Book by Tina Fey, music by Jeff Richmond, lyrics by Nell Benjamin and Directed and Choreographed by Casey Nicholaw - this musical will arrive in the West End in June 2024.

Duties and responsibilities will be those normally expected of a Wigs, Hair and Make-up Show Person on a first-class West End production. Skills required include excellent wig setting and dressing, knowledge, and skills of makeup application (including character make-up, fashion make-up, prosthetics) 

Experience in styling of Afro-textured hair and gents hair styling is desirable but not essential. Previous experience in a similar role on a large-scale production is desirable. 

The Show Person will work full time across technical rehearsals (approximately 10am-10pm). From performances onwards, they will work 6 days a week to cover all 8 shows. Approximate working hours are: 

  • One show days (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday): 6-10.30pm
  • Two show days (Friday and Saturday): 1pm - 10.30pm
  • Sundays: 1.30pm-6pm

  • Please Note: All applicants must be able to commit to the full contract and must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Job Location: West End London
  • Contract Type: Fixed term until Sunday 8th June 2025, or for the run of the Production, whichever shall be the shorter, subject to two weeks’ notice by the Producer as per the SOLT/BECTU Agreement. 
  • Salary: Paid per Show call (rate as per SOLT/BECTU Agreement) plus a 9 for 8 performance payment for working all 8 performances in one week, and double time on a Sunday
  • Weekly Hours: 8 shows per week across 6 days, including one Sunday performance 
  • Application Deadline: Friday 5th April 2024, midday
  • 1st round interviews: WC 8th April 2024
