Back End/Cloud Software Engineer

ATG Entertainment is proud to stand at the forefront of the live entertainment industry.

Our expertise and capabilities enable producers and other creatives to bring their visions to life and create unforgettable performances for audiences, presented in our landmark venues and delivered with exceptional hospitality. It is the passion of our teams, that cover every discipline across the live entertainment industry, that underpins our continuing strategic growth and success.

We own, operate or programme some of the world’s most iconic venues; ATG Entertainment manages 64 venues across Britain, the US and Germany.

We are pleased to be recruiting a Back End Cloud/Software Engineer - This role is based at our Head Office on Shaftesbury Avenue, London, however we are very flexible regarding remote working. You’ll report to an Engineering Manager. You’ll work closely with a close-knit team of engineers, designers, and product managers.

At ATG, digital product and technology are core to our ticketing business. We're building a state-of-the-art platform, using modern technologies to power the future of the theatre-going experience.

In our stack you'll come across things like TypeScript, React, Redux, a Design System backed Component Library, GraphQL and Node.js. We run everything in the cloud – utilising services from providers like AWS and Cloudflare and deploying using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Serverless Framework. CI/CD pipelines help us to release to production via automated testing and workflows. Monitoring and alerting add to our culture of owning changes from design and development to deployment and delivery.

Key responsibilities

· Perform hands-on software development, including writing code and unit tests, doing proof of concepts, conducting code reviews, and testing in ongoing sprints.

· Produce clean code.

· Work closely with product managers and members of the engineering team to implement innovative solutions to challenging web development problems.

· Participate in system design and specifications, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and support.

· Providing analysis of problems and recommending solutions.

· Work collaboratively with a tight-knit product engineering team.

Your skills, qualities, and experience.

Essential

  • At least 2-3+ years’ experience working in software development.
  • Excellent JavaScript and TypeScript knowledge.
  • Experience with Node.js
  • Good knowledge of AWS Services. Particularly their serverless and event-based offerings (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, Event Bridge).
  • Understanding of CI/CD tooling and processes (e.g. GitHub Actions).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with version control solutions (such as GitHub) including branching, merging and pull requests.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a microservices based architecture.
  • Experience working in an Agile team environment.
  • Experience with designing and developing RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and tools such as Jest.
  • Understanding of security principles and best practices in software development.

We understand that you may not tick all of these boxes, but above all we are looking for enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

To Note: This role is based  in ATG’s Head Office in London’s West End however we are flexible regarding remote working.
