Daytime Wardrobe Assistant
Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for a full-time, experienced Daytime Wardrobe Assistant to work on the recast period of the London production of STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW.
Written by Kate Trefry, an original story by the Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne and Kate Trefry, directed by Stephen Daldry, co-directed by Justin Martin for the Phoenix Theatre and produced by Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions.
Responsibilities include laundry, costume repairs and maintaining cover costumes as well as working as part of the team in the maintenance, repair and alteration of all costumes on the production, to maintain the look of the production as designed. Other responsibilities include working as part of an efficient and successful department and liaising with all other departments on the production and associated personnel.
Candidates will require relevant hands-on professional experience in costume, high level of sewing skills, the ability to work under pressure and within a team and good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong organisational and time management qualities. The ideal candidate is able to prioritise, multitask and understand the importance of thorough costume preparation for a large scale production. They will have the ability to retain large amounts of information and apply that to show set up.
Knowledge of laundering costume is preferable.
Experience in theatre on a large scale production is desirable.
Start Date: As soon as possible.
Please Note: All applicants must be able to commit to the full contract and must have the right to work in the UK.
Job Location: West End London
Contract Type: Fixed term 17th September - 24th November 2024.
Salary: Show/Rehearsal rate as per SOLT/BECTU Agreement.
Weekly Hours: 6 day working weeks (Tuesday to Sunday); 8 shows per week plus maintenance and understudy calls.
