Marketing and Communications Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Marketing and Communications team based at The Grand Opera House York. The Marketing and Communications Manager reports to the Head of Marketing and Communications and is responsible for the Marketing and Communications Officer, playing a key role in the team by implementing effective marketing and communication campaigns.

As Marketing and Communications Manager, you will be responsible for planning and delivering marketing and communication campaigns that drive ticket sales and revenue and nurture the audience base, coordinating and collaborating within the venue and with ATG’s central Marketing team. You’ll serve as the main point of contact for producers, media and marketing agencies in the development and delivery of campaigns and take responsibility for identifying sales opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue.

The Grand Opera House York is a receiving house, and it’s an exciting time to join the team. Fresh from a re-launch in Autumn 2022, the theatre has been going from strength to strength with an eclectic programme including major west-end musicals, drama, music and comedy. Shows coming up include Friends the Musical Parody, Six, Alan Davies, Prima Facie, the incredible Operation Mincemeat, not forgetting this year’s glitzy panto title Cinderella. Over the last 18 months we’ve worked on marketing and communications strategies for some of the biggest shows on the UK touring circuit including Dear Evan Hansen, Nina Conti, Only Fools and Horses the Musical and Hairspray.

We are a Disability Confident Committed Employer, which means that we are taking action to ensure that people with disabilities and long-term health conditions feel supported, engaged, and able to fulfil their potential in the workplace. We will offer an interview or recruitment event to disabled candidates who tell us they wish to participate in the scheme and who demonstrate in their application that they best meet the essential criteria for the role. Where we receive more applications than we are reasonably able to interview for any given role, we will retain applications for the next available interview opportunity wherever possible.

If you’d like to discuss accessibility prior to applying, please review our job description where you will see a contact e-mail address to request a confidential discussion.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and strive to provide a stage for everyone. Onstage and off, we hold ourselves accountable for nurturing an inclusive culture. Find out more about us and our values at atg.co.uk and careers.atg.co.uk.
